The Department of Campus Activities will host a Family-Friendly Social on Friday, September 22, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Join us at the Central Plaza for some family fun!
On Sunday, September 24, enjoy Family Weekend and experience a staple of Western North Carolina and one of the most popular rivers in the Southeast, the Nantahala River! Meet at the WCU Campus Recreation Center at 10 am. Once everyone has arrived, the trip will then depart for the Nantahala River. The Nantahala River offers two Class III rapids and many Class II rapids. All participants will help with paddling, carrying boats, and loading equipment. If this is a problem for any participants special considerations can be made if staff are notified in advance. Lunch will be provided halfway down the river. During registration, please be sure to include all members’ names and emails so that we can properly send out information and medical forms. NOTE - Minimum weight limit is 60 lbs or 7 years of age.
The rafting trip is full. We look forward to rafting with the families of our Catamounts.

Western Carolina Volleyball vs. Furman
Admission is Free!
Come cheer on the Catamount volleyball team as they take on conference rival Furman. The Catamounts led the Southern Conference in attendance last year and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIVC tournament. Expect an action-packed evening in the Ramsey Center!

Enjoy a fun-filled day in Cullowhee as the Catamount football team takes on Charleston Southern. Expect a crowd of over 10,000 cheering on Catamount at scenic E.J. Whitmire Stadium. WCU finished strong last season and excitement is high for the 2023 season. Fans will also be entertained throughout the game watching the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band with over 500 members.

The Catamount women’s soccer team battles rival Furman in a key SoCon match. It’s WCU’s first home conference match of the season. The Catamounts set an all-time single-match home attendance record last season.
Are you a new WCU student with a family member who is an alum of one of WCU's undergraduate or graduate programs? If so, Join the Office of Advancement for the 2023 Legacy Pinning Ceremony! On Saturday, September 23 at 9:30 am, the Legacy Pinning Celebration will take place in the Ramsey Center. The Legacy Pinning ceremony is held annually to honor incoming Western Carolina Legacy students and their family members during WCU’s Family Weekend. It offers an alumnus the opportunity to “pin” their incoming student with a special legacy pin that denotes their WCU heritage.
Legacy students and 3 guests are invited to attend at no charge.
Additional guests may attend the event for $10.
